Effect of Grape Pomace Intake on the Rumen Bacterial Community of Sheep

The performance of ruminants is affected mainly by the rumen bacterial community. composition and properties community depend largely on diet components that are fed to ruminant. aim this study was determine effect grape pomace intake sheep. Four different diets, two which contained dried (DGP), were used in study. Rumen fluid samples from 12 wethers for 16S rRNA gene sequencing subsequent identification. At phylum level, Bacteroidetes Firmicutes; at family Prevotellaceae Porphyromonadaeceae; genera Prevotella Verrucomicrobia_Subdivision5_genera_incertae_sedis most common regardless animals fed. After addition DGP diet, relative abundance Methanobrevibacter, Butytirivibrio, Fretibacterium, Verrucomicrobia _Subdivision3 _genera_incertae_sedis significantly increased, whereas Succiniclasticum Selenomonas decreased. upregulated pathway methanogenesis H2 CO2 supported a significant increase Methanobacteriaceae after supplemented with DGP. diversity indices (Richness Shannon) as well change housing location. into wethers’ increased richness community, good maintaining homeostasis.
